On the 6th, former lawmaker Jeong posted a press release from the Open Democratic Party's founding committee on Facebook, stating, "Lawmaker Son has decided to join the Open Democratic Party."
Jeong explained, "While preparing to establish the Open Democratic Party to counter the tactics of the Future Korea Party, a satellite party of the United Future Party, I have made long efforts to secure Son lawmaker's participation."
Son's side stated, "Initially, she was negative about joining, but after former lawmaker Jeong fully accepted the open casting nomination system, where the public directly recommends and participates in proportional representation candidate selection, she decided to join."
Son is expected to be in charge of matters related to the overall nomination process, including the 'Open Casting' conducted by the Open Democratic Party, as well as promotional activities.
