'Meeting Filmmakers' Lee Jae-myung: "Committed to Creating a Fair Culture and Arts Ecosystem"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We will prepare measures to create a fair cultural and artistic ecosystem so that the film industry can develop healthily."
On the 5th, Governor Lee held a meeting with film industry stakeholders in the Gyeonggi Provincial Government situation room to promote culture and arts in Gyeonggi Province. He said, "The content industry is very important as a future industry, and among them, the film industry, which can be called a comprehensive art, is an area with infinite potential," adding, "If all film and art workers can fully demonstrate their abilities in a fair environment and are properly guaranteed their share according to their contributions, new resources and new talents will be attracted and actively engaged."
In response, producer Won Dong-yeon said, "Gyeonggi Province is the most attractive filming location for producers because it is an area where staff can commute," and added, "If there is active support and interest in locations, stories will develop in those areas, and a win-win effect will occur benefiting local residents."
Additionally, writer Son Jeong-woo proposed operating a boarding academy for creators, saying, "I hope you will help creators focus on their work comfortably by utilizing idle spaces in Gyeonggi Province."
The attendees suggested phased training for scenario writers and promotional support for independent and low-budget films.
Governor Lee promised, "I believe it is the role of public institutions to establish rules for a healthy film ecosystem," and said, "We will review what can be done at the Gyeonggi Province level among the opinions received."

Meanwhile, 10 film industry professionals attended the meeting, including directors Jeong Ji-young and Kwon Chil-in; producers Lee Chun-yeon, Choi Jeong-hwa, Jang Won-seok, and Won Dong-yeon; film marketer Chae Yoon-hee; scenario writers Kim Byung-in and Son Jeong-woo; and Jeong Sang-jin, Executive Director of the DMZ Documentary.
