Chinese academic societies and companies deliver masks and protective suits worth 1 billion KRW to the National Assembly's COVID-19 Special Committee

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Chinese academic societies and companies have donated masks and protective suits worth approximately 1 billion KRW to the National Assembly's COVID-19 Special Committee. This is the first tangible achievement since the committee's launch on the 2nd.
The National Assembly COVID-19 Special Committee announced on the 5th that "the Chahaer Academic Society and the Beijing Jiangsu Enterprise Chamber of Commerce have delivered 100,000 masks, 10,000 protective suits, and 2,000 hand sanitizers to the committee." These items will be sent to Daegu City via the Korean Red Cross. According to the committee, the value is about 1 billion KRW.
A committee official explained, "Kim Jin-pyo, the chairman of the special committee and a member of the Democratic Party, has served as an advisory member for the Chahaer Academic Society and the Beijing Jiangsu Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, acting as a public diplomacy channel," adding, "These academic societies and companies have delivered quarantine supplies to the committee to be used in Daegu City."
The president of the Chahaer Academic Society stated in a letter of appreciation during the delivery of goods, "This donation of masks and protective suits is a gesture of gratitude for the Korean central and local governments' multiple donations of quarantine supplies to China."
Chairman Kim said, "The quarantine supplies supported by these two organizations will be of great help to the citizens of Daegu who are striving to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19)," and added, "I am confident that this will also greatly contribute to the promotion of friendship between the two countries."

Meanwhile, the special committee will hold its second meeting at 9 a.m. on the same day. At this meeting, No Hyung-wook, Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, and others are expected to attend and report on current issues related to hospital beds, medical facilities, and mask supply shortages in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region.
