Suwon City Offers 10% Incentive for 'Suwon Pay' Local Currency Recharge Throughout March
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will expand the incentive for the local currency 'Suwon Pay' to 10% for the entire month of March.
On the 4th, Suwon City announced that it has decided to raise the special incentive for the local currency Suwon Pay to 10% for one month until the 31st.
Accordingly, if the maximum special incentive limit of 500,000 won is charged, 550,000 won can be used.
The expansion of the Suwon Pay incentive was promoted to revitalize the neighborhood commercial districts for small business owners whose sales have sharply declined due to the prolonged local economic downturn caused by COVID-19.
Earlier, Suwon City set the general issuance target for local currency at 20 billion won this year. During the Lunar New Year holiday period in January (11 days), the city conducted a special discount and issued about 2.76 billion won.
The merchants' association is also making multifaceted efforts to ensure usage safety, such as conducting voluntary COVID-19 prevention measures.
The merchants' associations of 22 traditional markets in Suwon formed voluntary quarantine teams of 3 to 5 members each to regularly disinfect the markets, check the availability of hand sanitizers, promote mask-wearing, and support resolving complaints within the markets.
Additionally, the rent reduction campaign, which has shown a spreading effect in the region, will be autonomously promoted according to the circumstances of each market.
Furthermore, they plan to gradually implement ▲ promotion of safe shopping in traditional markets ▲ campaigns encouraging local organizations to use traditional markets ▲ cultural and artistic events in traditional markets.
To this end, banners will be posted to inform citizens that disinfection and sanitation are continuously being carried out within the markets.
