One COVID-19 Case (35-Year-Old Female) Reported in Gangnam-gu...Total 9 Cases
35-Year-Old Woman Living in Villa House in Yulhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Currently Handling Building Brokerage at K Brokerage Corporation, Met for One Hour on February 18 with 36-Year-Old Man Confirmed Positive at Gangnam Health Center on February 28, Also Had Dinner Together
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] On the 1st, one new COVID-19 case was confirmed in Gangnam-gu, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Gangnam-gu to nine.
Jung Soon-gyun, mayor of Gangnam-gu, held a briefing on the afternoon of the 1st and stated, "Today's confirmed case is a 35-year-old woman living in a villa in Yulhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu. She is currently responsible for building brokerage at K Brokerage Corporation. It was revealed that she had a one-hour business meeting and dinner on the afternoon of the 18th of last month with a 36-year-old man who was confirmed positive at Gangnam Public Health Center on the 28th of last month."
The woman began to experience mild symptoms such as a dry throat and slight irritation starting February 25th, a week after the meeting and dinner. Upon being notified on the 28th that the man she met with was confirmed positive, she underwent testing at Gangnam Public Health Center on the 29th and was confirmed positive on the morning of the 1st.
Immediately after the additional confirmed case was identified, Gangnam-gu promptly notified the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency and Seoul City. Preparations are underway to transfer the confirmed patient to an isolation ward this afternoon.
Prior to this, Gangnam-gu conducted a movement investigation of the confirmed patient and took quarantine measures for 14 close contacts, including nine colleagues and five clients, instructing them to undergo testing at nearby public health center screening clinics.
Additionally, first-round disinfection was carried out at about ten locations within Gangnam, including the office in Nonhyeon-dong, the villa in Yulhyeon-dong, a health club, restaurants, and coffee shops identified in the patient’s movement path. Six locations in the neighboring Seocho district were also reported to the Seocho District Office.
Gangnam-gu announced that on the 2nd, they will conduct a detailed epidemiological investigation with Seoul City epidemiologists to identify additional movement paths and close contacts, take follow-up measures, and perform a second round of disinfection at the identified locations, doing their utmost to prevent the spread of community infection.
