Shinsegae Group Supports Disinfection at Small and Medium Partner Companies' Workplaces
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Shinsegae Group announced on the 1st that it will support disinfection at the workplaces of small and medium-sized partner companies facing business difficulties due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Shinsegae Group will provide full disinfection costs primarily to companies that applied through the website among partner companies trading with Shinsegae Department Store and E-Mart. The number of eligible partner companies totals about 900, including approximately 400 for Shinsegae Department Store and 500 for E-Mart. The application period is until the 15th of this month.
Shinsegae Group plans to sequentially provide disinfection support according to the applications from partner companies, and workplaces located in Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions will be given priority for disinfection support upon application.
Shinsegae Department Store will focus on supporting disinfection for small and medium-sized partner companies trading in food, daily necessities, and miscellaneous goods, especially those that find it difficult to conduct self-disinfection due to business circumstances, such as side dish, dried seafood, canned tuna factories, and bedding companies. E-Mart will provide disinfection support targeting small and medium-sized partner company workplaces that supply E-Mart’s private label (PL) products such as No Brand and Peacock.
E-Mart24 and E-Mart Everyday also immediately conduct disinfection if a COVID-19 confirmed case is identified at a franchise store, with the head office covering all related costs.
A Shinsegae Group official stated, "As the COVID-19 situation prolongs, difficulties for small and medium-sized partner companies and franchise stores are increasing. We decided to provide this disinfection support to share their hardships and overcome the crisis together," adding, "We will review the progress and consider additional support going forward."
