CU, Special Promotion to Overcome COVID-19
80 Types of Food 2+1, 30 Types of Daily Necessities 1+1
Up to 42% Price Discount in Daegu and Yeongnam Region
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seung-jin] CU, a convenience store operated by BGF Retail, is conducting a 1+1 giveaway event for major daily necessities at over 14,000 stores. This is to help customers save money and ensure stable operation of franchise stores as local consumption gradually expands due to reduced outdoor activities.
CU announced on the 1st that it will apply a 2+1 event for about 80 types of food products that can be stored for a long time, such as porridge, rice bowls, instant rice, canned food, and cup noodles, and will hold a 1+1 event for about 30 types of daily necessities such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and razors, offering the same benefits as a 50% discount. In particular, a special event will be additionally held in the Yeongnam region, including Daegu, which is struggling due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
To stabilize the livelihood of Yeongnam residents who have recently experienced shortages of daily necessities, a separate price discount event of up to 42% will be held for a total of 52 products, including bottled water, processed milk, refrigerated convenience foods, mass-produced bread, Baeksansu, Bonjuk, Hetbahn, affordable bread, and Beat detergent.
Along with the customer event, CU will donate about 6,000 portions of popular products from the convenience store restaurant, such as Parae Tangmyeon and Kkoko Deopbap, to those working hard for the containment of the situation and patient treatment in the Yeongnam region. The first proceeds of 44 million KRW raised from the sales of five menus released through 'New Product Launch Convenience Store Restaurant' have already been delivered to the Community Chest of Korea as funds for children in need and COVID-19 damage recovery.
