LG Electronics Wins Performance Award for 2nd Year from US Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association for 6 Product Lines
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] LG Electronics has been recognized for its differentiated technology and performance in air conditioning solutions used in commercial and residential spaces in the United States.
LG Electronics announced on the 1st that six air conditioning product lines have won the 'Performance Award' from the Air-Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) in the U.S. for two consecutive years.
To receive this award, all products randomly selected by AHRI from each product line must pass the primary performance test for three consecutive years. AHRI randomly selects 20% of products from each product line per manufacturer, and experts from the U.S. standards certification body Intertek evaluate whether the actual performance matches the product specifications. AHRI, established in 1953, has over 350 air conditioner manufacturers worldwide as members.
From 2016 to 2018, LG Electronics’ 63 models across six major product lines ? including large-capacity system air conditioners, medium- and small-capacity system air conditioners, air-cooled cooling systems, water-cooled cooling systems, and integrated air conditioners ? passed the performance evaluation by the refrigeration and air conditioning association.
LG Electronics explained that its flagship large-capacity system air conditioner, Multi V, is equipped with a high-efficiency inverter compressor developed independently, combining high performance and energy efficiency, making it stand out in the commercial air conditioning market. They added that this product can operate heating even in outdoor temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius, making it popular in the northern U.S. regions where winter temperatures drop significantly.
The representative product of the medium- and small-capacity system air conditioners, Multi V S, is designed for residential use. It can connect up to 16 indoor units to a single outdoor unit, enabling smooth heating and cooling even in large residential spaces. Consumers can choose the type of indoor unit they want to install among wall-mounted, cassette, and duct types.
Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners (PTAC), widely used in hotels, integrate the outdoor and indoor units into one. LG Electronics applied a special coating technology to prevent corrosion of the heat exchanger to enhance product durability.
Based on differentiated technology, LG Electronics has experienced 11 consecutive years of growth in the North American air conditioning market, with sales last year more than doubling compared to five years ago.
