'Galaxy Z Flip' Sold Out in China in 9 Minutes
Thom Browne Edition Pre-Order Sold Out in 3 Minutes
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Galaxy Z Flip sold out in China within 9 minutes. This achievement came amid the significant contraction of the Chinese smartphone market due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to industry sources on the 28th, Samsung Electronics began selling the Galaxy Z Flip from 8:30 PM the previous night (local time) through Samsung Electronics' online store, Tmall, JD.com, Suning, and others, and all prepared stock was sold out within 9 minutes. The number of Galaxy Z Flip units sold was not disclosed. Samsung Electronics decided to deliver the Galaxy Z Flip via courier.
The Galaxy Z Flip Thom Browne Edition, which was available for pre-order on the same day, sold out in 3 minutes. In South Korea, it sold out in 2 hours due to site access issues, but this record was faster.
Previously, on the 21st, Samsung Electronics held a first-come, first-served sales event in an exclusive online community for premium customers, but this was the first sale targeting general consumers in China. Following the Galaxy Fold, which recorded a rapid sell-out during its second sale in China, the Galaxy Z Flip also sold out quickly.
