Ahn Cheol-soo: "There Will Be No Integration or Alliance with the Future United Party"
Regarding the COVID-19 Situation: "President Moon Should Deliver a National Address"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, stated on the 28th that regarding integration and alliance with the United Future Party, “I have consistently said that there will be no integration or alliance so far.”
On the same day, on KBS Radio’s ‘Kim Kyung-rae’s Strongest Current Affairs,’ Ahn said, “There used to be a bestseller titled ‘You must be shaken a thousand times to become an adult.’ It means that whether a person or a political party, they properly establish themselves through various trials,” adding, “I think I have been shaken about 500 times by those around me. After about 500 more times, I believe I will be able to properly settle down.”
Regarding the possibility of a meeting with Kim Hyung-oh, chairman of the United Future Party’s nomination committee, Ahn said, “I saw media reports that Chairman Kim said he ‘wants to meet,’ and I thought, ‘There is no reason politicians cannot meet each other.’ However, I told him that since we are currently in a national emergency for a week, holding political events would be a burden to the people, and it would be better to focus on preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).”
Ahn criticized the politics centered on the two major parties, saying, “To put it somewhat harshly, our people are unfortunate. They are choosing between a ‘current offender’ and a ‘former convict.’ History shows that when a former convict regains power, they become a current offender, and while this ‘chain revenge drama’ unfolds, the country falls into ruin.”
Regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, Ahn emphasized, “President Moon Jae-in should deliver a national address, and measures equivalent to a national emergency should be implemented simultaneously.”
