[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Lee Ho-young, president of Changwon National University (photo), has been appointed as the new chairman of the Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam·Jeju University Presidents' Council. The vice chairman position was taken by Shin Ho-cheol, president of Busan Catholic University. The term of the new chairman team is one year, starting from March 1, 2020.
President Lee Ho-young emphasized, "To promote the joint development of universities in the Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, and Jeju regions, we will further strengthen inter-university exchange, cooperation, and communication, and do our best to ensure that universities fulfill their public nature and responsibilities as core contributors to regional development."
He added, "Although universities face many difficult conditions, if regional universities share their achievements and information and prepare win-win plans, we can leap forward together. To wisely overcome the COVID-19 situation spreading domestically and internationally, we will establish a close cooperation system between universities and between universities and local governments, and make our best efforts in prevention and management."
