Strict Measures to Be Taken If Health Authorities' Orders Are Refused
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The police have formed a 'Rapid Response Team' related to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and decided to deploy a large number of personnel. They will be exclusively responsible for COVID-19 related tasks such as confirming the whereabouts of test subjects and investigating illegal activities.
On the 27th, the National Police Agency announced that it had organized 'COVID-19 Rapid Response Teams' at 18 provincial police agencies and 255 police stations nationwide. The Rapid Response Teams are led by the heads of investigation departments at each police station and include related departments such as investigation, criminal, cyber investigation, women and youth investigation, and intelligence. The number of deployed police officers reaches 5,753.
The Rapid Response Teams will be responsible for ▲confirming the whereabouts of test subjects ▲supporting epidemiological investigations by health authorities ▲judicial action against violators of the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act. In particular, they plan to prioritize confirming the whereabouts of subjects whose locations are unknown during the full-scale investigation of suspected infected persons conducted by health authorities and local governments nationwide. Previously, the Daegu Provincial Police Agency received a request to confirm the whereabouts of 242 Shincheonji Church members and deployed 618 police officers, successfully identifying the whereabouts of 241 people except for one.
