Dobong-gu, Choansan Neighborhood Park Sharing Garden

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) will accept applications for the 2020 Dobong-gu Eco-friendly Sharing Garden from March 3 to March 9.

Since 2011, the district has been running the "Eco-friendly Sharing Garden Leasing Project," continuously providing residents with opportunities to experience eco-friendly urban agriculture, healthy leisure activities, and safe food.

This year, the sharing garden project will lease a total of 770 plots across three locations: △ Ssangmun-dong Eco-friendly Sharing Garden (Ssangmun-dong 442-1) △ Choansan Neighborhood Park Sharing Garden (Chang-dong San154-1) △ Generation Empathy Garden (Chang-dong San177). The leasing fee is either 30,000 KRW or 60,000 KRW per garden.

Additionally, the district supports participating residents with △ one-time seedling provision (on opening day) △ provision of farming tools △ supply of agricultural water △ pre-application of compost △ eco-friendly farming education △ continuous access and autonomous management by cultivating residents (crop cultivation education).

Applications can be submitted through the Dobong-gu website (http://dobong.go.kr) under the menu ‘Participation → Internet Application & Survey → Internet Application & Reservation.’ If the number of applicants exceeds the available spots, participants will be selected through a random computerized lottery.

Selected applicants will be individually notified via announcement on the Dobong-gu website and text message on March 18.

The sharing garden is scheduled to open on April 4, and the usage period lasts until November 30. For more details, contact the Dobong-gu Environmental Policy Division Urban Agriculture Team at 2091-3212~3215.

Mayor Dongjin Lee of Dobong-gu said, “I hope the eco-friendly sharing garden becomes a space for residents’ leisure and healing, and that by cultivating crops in the city, residents can experience being urban farmers, providing children with a vivid educational site to become familiar with nature.”
