U+VR Wins MWC Mobile Media Entertainment Innovation Award
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] LG Uplus announced on the 26th that its core 5G service, U+VR, won the Mobile Media Entertainment Innovation Award at MWC 2020, hosted by GSMA (GSM Association).
GSMA stated the reason for the award: "It is a rare case demonstrating the potential of wisely combining 5G and VR by addressing frequency bandwidth and latency with a user experience-oriented approach, laying the foundation for true mobile VR."
Although this year's MWC event was canceled due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19, LG Uplus explained that winning in the B2C customer service category on the international stage, where numerous telecom companies worldwide participate, is highly meaningful.
Last year, LG Uplus devoted great effort to discovering innovative content incorporating VR, expanding dedicated content to about 19,000 titles to foster the 5G ecosystem. They are also producing VR content through a joint content fund established with Google.
