[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeon Seong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Jun-seong) announced on the 25th that it will actively promote marine tourism projects in 2020 with a total budget of about 21.2 billion KRW across six sectors, in line with the ‘Blue Tour’ policy, one of the six major projects of Jeollanam-do’s core initiative ‘Clean Jeonnam Blue Economy.’
The county is investing 1 billion KRW in the ‘Island You Want to Visit’ project to develop Anmado, known as the ‘Haegumgang of the West Sea,’ into a clean energy island utilizing its ecological environment and traditional culture. Additionally, it is investing 3.2 billion KRW in the ‘Nakwoldo Marine Theme Park’ and ‘Nakwol Area Hub Development Project’ to create a stay-type tourist destination themed around Nakwoldo’s pristine natural environment and diverse cultural elements.
For the prevention of natural disasters such as typhoons and the development of ports combining fisheries and tourism, as well as the expansion of fishing port infrastructure, the comprehensive island development project and coastal maintenance project will be implemented this year with a budget of 4 billion KRW. The Fishing Village New Deal 300 project, aimed at improving aging fishing port facilities and outdated tourist facilities to create livable fishing villages, will officially start this year with a budget of 13 billion KRW for five ports, including Changwoo Port and Daesin Port, which were newly selected through last year’s public contest.
