On the same day, Hong posted on his Facebook, "Yesterday, a KBS opinion poll showed that I am trailing lawmaker Kim within the margin of error. Although it is Gyeongnam, our party's support rate also came out behind the Democratic Party," adding, "I accept that opinion poll as natural."
He added, "The Yangsan-eul district in Gyeongnam is a young city with an average age of 39 and is the strongest area for left-wing forces in Gyeongnam."
He continued, "Lawmaker Kim has been in Yangsan for about a month with the party's full support, and I only just opened my election office in Yangsan-eul yesterday after many twists and turns, so it is natural that Kim is ahead, even if within the margin of error."
Former leader Hong concluded, "In the midst of the uncontrollable spread of the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus infection) crisis, instead of relying on the incompetent Moon administration, each citizen should thoroughly follow COVID-19 prevention guidelines to stop the spread and overcome the national crisis."
According to the KBS opinion poll released on the 24th, lawmaker Kim's support rate was 36.0%, and former leader Hong's was 29.6%. Regarding the possibility of winning, Kim was at 36.4%, and Hong was at 35.2%.
This survey was conducted by KBS through Korea Research on the 23rd in the Yangsan-eul electoral district, surveying 500 men and women aged 18 and over via landline and mobile phones. The sampling error is ±4.4 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
