Fashion Wearing a Camera... Hyundai Department Store Opens 'Kodak' Popup Store in Mokdong
Pop-up Store Opens First Before Regular Store Launch at Mokdong Branch in First Half of the Year
Introducing Upcycling Eco-friendly Goods
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Hyundai Department Store is launching a clothing store for 'Kodak,' famous for camera film.
Hyundai Department Store announced on the 24th that it will open a Kodak pop-up store on the B2 floor of the U-PLEX at Mokdong branch on the 28th. Hyundai Department Store plans to open an official Kodak store at the Mokdong branch within the first half of the year and gradually expand the stores.
The store will showcase Kodak's new spring products offline for the first time. Key items include K-jackets, corduroy shirts, and rainbow sweatshirts. It will also feature eco-friendly goods made by upcycling materials discarded after photo printing. These products are part of the 'JaeJae (再材) Project,' meaning 'materials reborn,' and include JaeJae rectangular bags, JaeJae shoulder bags, and JaeJae pencil cases.
Founded in the United States in 1881, Kodak is a manufacturer of film and cameras. In Korea, it entered the fashion business last year by selling clothing through an online shopping mall. Following the newtro (new retro) trend, Kodak aims to target young consumers seeking nostalgic yet fresh products by offering clothing and goods that utilize the brand’s unique analog sensibility and distinctive logo.
A Hyundai Department Store official said, "Kodak’s clothing items, which prominently feature signature colors such as black, yellow, and red, have been very popular among young people who prefer distinctive designs," adding, "The store interior will also express Kodak’s identity by installing photo booths and photo zones."
