Ahn Cheol-soo Declares "Determination to Die in Battle"... Rejects Anti-Moon Alliance
"Breaking Through the High and Thick Wall of Entrenched Political Power"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Ahn Cheol-soo, the chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the founding of the People’s Party (tentative name), stated on the 21st regarding the anti-Moon alliance with the United Future Party in the April 15 general election, “I am determined to break through the high and thick walls of vested interest politics that hold our country captive with a resolve of life or death,” and added, “Even if it is lonely and difficult, I will follow the path promised to the people.”
At the Central Steering Committee meeting of the Preparatory Committee held at the National Assembly Members’ Office Building on the same day, Chairman Ahn said, “Upon returning to the country, I said I would take the path of practical centrist politics,” and added, “This path is by no means easy, but it is the right path for our country, so I intend to follow it.”
Chairman Ahn emphasized, “I see some validity in the claim of an anti-Moon alliance to stop the Moon Jae-in administration’s tyranny,” and continued, “However, preventing the worst 20th National Assembly from continuing as it is into the next assembly, and transitioning from factional politics that only fights to practical politics that solves people’s livelihood issues, is a precious value we can never give up for the sake of our Republic of Korea and a reform path we must take.”
