Gwangju Dong-gu 'Dongmyeong Happiness Reporters' Appointment Ceremony Held
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 17th that it held an appointment ceremony for the ‘Dongmyeong Happiness Reporters Group (Donghaeng Reporters Group),’ which will play a role in discovering and informing residents about the hidden stories and diverse lives of Dongmyeong-dong.
The Donghaeng Reporters Group will act as field activists who jointly consider and solve village issues by promoting interesting good news stories occurring in the ‘Dongmyeong Village Where Culture Becomes Light,’ as well as finding and publicizing the meaning and beauty of each alley.
The reporters group consists of 14 residents selected through a public contest last December and received education over seven sessions on understanding urban regeneration, reporting, and article writing for newsletter publication.

In particular, it is composed of all age groups from their 20s to 60s living in the project site and surrounding areas, and it is expected to capture the perspectives of various generations from youth to elders within Dongmyeong Village. Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, “I hope many warm and happy stories hidden in every alley will be discovered,” and added, “I expect the Donghaeng Reporters Group to play a significant role in restoring the village community through urban regeneration.”
