[Weather] Snow and Rain Nationwide on Sunday... Temperature Drops Sharply
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] On Sunday the 16th, the whole country will be cloudy with rain or snow. Temperatures will drop significantly, making it cold.
In Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, and the Yeongseo region of Gangwon Province, snow is expected to fall until night.
In the late afternoon, snow will begin along the west coast of Chungnam and will expand by night to Chungcheong Province, Jeolla Province, the western inland area of Gyeongnam, and Jeju Island.
The expected precipitation in areas with rain is 5 to 20 mm. The expected snowfall until the morning is 5 to 10 cm in the mountainous areas of Gangwon and Jeju Island, with some places accumulating up to 15 cm. Outside the mountainous areas, Jeju Island will see about 1 cm of snow accumulation.
Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, and the Yeongseo region of Gangwon Province will see 2 to 7 cm of snow until morning, while Chungcheong Province and Jeolla Province will have 1 to 5 cm of snowfall until night.
The Korea Meteorological Administration advised, "In areas where snow accumulates, caution is needed for safety accidents such as vinyl greenhouse collapses and traffic safety."
The lowest temperature in the morning is expected to be between -1 and 8 degrees Celsius, and the highest temperature during the day is expected to be between -1 and 10 degrees Celsius.
This temperature is about 10 degrees lower than Saturday, when daytime temperatures ranged from about 10 to 19 degrees Celsius. Strong winds will also make the perceived temperature feel colder.
Especially along the coast and Jeju Island, winds will blow very strongly, and strong winds will also occur inland in some areas.
Waves will be high across all seas. In the southern sea, gusts and thunder and lightning are expected, so ships navigating or fishing should be especially cautious.
