DGB Capital, Expansion into Cambodia
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] DGB Financial Group subsidiary DGB Capital has entered the Cambodian market by acquiring 100% of a local microfinance company.
DGB Capital announced on the 11th that it has launched a local Cambodian entity, Cam Capital Plc.
After signing a share purchase agreement (SPA) for the acquisition in July last year, DGB Capital recently completed all administrative procedures related to domestic and international permits. This marks its second entry into the New Southern Market, following its 2016 lease business in Laos and now the microfinance industry (MFI) in Cambodia.
The acquired company is a local entity operating primarily secured microloans in Phnom Penh, the capital, since 2015, and plans to expand its offline business centered around Phnom Penh in the future.
