According to Bucheon Fire Station on the 11th, at around 9 a.m. on the 10th, a woman in her 20s, Ms. A, called the police asking for help, saying, "I am trying to make an extreme choice, but I am very scared."
The 119 rescue team received a request for cooperation from the police and headed to a 14-story residential-commercial complex building in Simgok-dong, Bucheon, where Ms. A lived.
The rescuers could not initially locate Ms. A, but after confirming that her mobile phone was on the upper floors of the building, they deployed a fire department drone to search the exterior of the building.
They later found Ms. A standing on one side of the building rooftop and rescued her using a rope.
Kang Shingwang, head of Bucheon Fire Station, said, "Last August, we also safely rescued a citizen attempting an extreme act by utilizing a drone," adding, "We plan to actively use drones in the future at sites where rescuers cannot approach."
