H5N6 Avian Influenza Detected in Sichuan Province, China... 1,840 Birds Dead
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] Amid the ongoing spread of the novel coronavirus infection in China, H5N6 avian influenza (AI) has been detected in Sichuan Province.
On the 10th, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China announced that an H5N6 AI infection case was confirmed the previous day in Xichong County, Sichuan Province. Out of 2,497 poultry, 1,840 were infected and died.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs reported that the infected area was quarantined and disinfected, and 2,261 poultry were culled. Previously, one case of H5N1 AI and four cases of H5N6 AI infections were reported in Hunan Province and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China, respectively.
