Opening of Banghwa Health Center in Gangseo-gu, Seoul
Focused Operation on Chronic Disease Management and Local Community Revitalization Projects
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) officially opened the Banghwa Health Center on the 31st of last month and began full-scale operations.
The district established the Banghwa Health Center (162 Geumnanghwa-ro, Gangseo-gu) on the first floor of Mayville Apartment in Banghwa-dong, covering an area of 258㎡, to eliminate health disparities between regions and provide high-quality health services.
The Banghwa-dong area, where the Banghwa Health Center is located, and the nearby Gonghang-dong area have a higher proportion of residents aged 65 and older compared to other regions.
Additionally, the distance from the Gangseo-gu Public Health Center made it inconvenient for local residents to use the health center’s programs.
Reflecting these characteristics, the district designed the Banghwa Health Center as a community-tailored space equipped with a U-Health Chronic Disease Management Room, a Small Health Counseling Room, and a Resident Program Room.
In the U-Health Chronic Disease Management Room, which systematically manages conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, residents can check their blood pressure and stress levels with a single mobile registration, and if chronic diseases are suspected, they can receive counseling and management from professional nurses.
In the Small Health Counseling Room, local residents can consult about any health concerns and receive referrals to necessary services.
The Resident Program Room, prepared to activate the community, is a space where residents can independently run health clubs such as exercise practice and nutrition education.
The Banghwa Health Center is staffed by 10 health professionals and operates from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed on Saturdays and public holidays.
Moreover, alongside chronic disease management projects and community activation initiatives, the Banghwa Health Center also offers the ‘Seoul Care Visiting Health Care Service,’ where village doctors, nurses, and nutritionists visit local residents who need help with health management.
A district official said, “We hope the opening of the Banghwa Health Center will greatly contribute to improving the health of local residents,” adding, “We will strive to create a healthy community through chronic disease prevention and management and the activation of resident participation health programs.”
