Son Hak-kyu: "Ahn Cheol-soo Preparing to Establish New Party Upon Return... Feeling Disappointed"
Kim Jeong-hwa Spokesperson: "Ahn Cheol-soo Faction, Stop Mocking Party Members and Resign"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Sohn Hak-kyu, leader of the Bareunmirae Party, stated on the 31st regarding former lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo's departure from the party, "It is disheartening to realize that (former lawmaker Ahn) was already preparing to leave the party and establish a new party upon his return to Korea, and that all his actions followed that script."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Leader Sohn said, "I was also taken aback, and all our party members and comrades had to watch former lawmaker Ahn's departure with regret."
Leader Sohn emphasized, "Now we must move forward more vigorously on our path," adding, "The historic task of the 21st general election should not merely be about judging the regime or the opposition party. Political structural reform and generational change are the greatest challenges of this election."
Leader Sohn said, "We will actively pursue integration with young and talented future-generation talents," and added, "We will integrate and unite the future generation not simply as recruitment targets but as partners who take the lead."
Kim Jeong-hwa, spokesperson for the Bareunmirae Party, said, "Respected politician, former lawmaker Ahn has left the party. It is regrettable," adding, "There is a saying that if you want to do something, you find a way, and if you don't, you find an excuse. It seems we could not find a way to work together."
Spokesperson Kim said, "When (former lawmaker Ahn) left the party, saying he 'gave up the dream of rebuilding the Bareunmirae Party,' it brought devastation to the members of the Bareunmirae Party," and added, "Even if former lawmaker Ahn gave up on the dream, those of us sitting here, the party members and the people, have not given up on the Bareunmirae Party."
