At the meeting, the Integrity Citizen Auditors shared their experiences from the Jeonnam education field last year, evaluated their activities, and established an annual activity plan for this year through discussions.
Launched in July last year, the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education’s Integrity Citizen Auditors consist of 50 experts and local community figures from various fields such as education, politics, economy, law, architecture, and human rights, as well as civil society organizations, and operate in four divisions by region.
The Integrity Citizen Auditors participate directly in specific, financial, and facility inspections or civil complaint investigations targeting educational institutions such as education support offices, affiliated organizations, and schools, conducting inspection activities on overall educational administration operations including academic management, accounting, and facility construction.
They also engage in various anti-corruption and integrity activities in the education field and advocate for improvements in educational policies and systems.
The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education expects that by enhancing the capabilities of the Integrity Citizen Auditors through training in audit techniques (academic field, budget accounting field, investigation techniques) and strengthening the control tower function for anti-corruption integrity practices led by residents, inspections and monitoring of corruption-prone areas will become more active.
