Nasang-woong, Retired Lieutenant General, Elected Vice President of Bangjinhoe
[Asia Economy Reporter Yang Nak-gyu] Na Sang-woong, retired Lieutenant General (3rd Military Academy, Class 16), has been appointed as the 20th full-time Vice Chairman of the Korea Defense Industry Promotion Association (KDIPA). His term is three years, ending on January 31, 2023.
KDIPA held an extraordinary board meeting on the 30th at the Air Force Hall in Daebang-dong, Seoul, and elected Na Sang-woong as the new full-time Vice Chairman with the attendance of more than half of the board members and a majority vote.
KDIPA completed its executive recruitment by the 8th. It is known that retired Major General Kim, retired Lieutenant General Na, and retired Lieutenant General Jung applied for the position.
Meanwhile, the defense industry is showing keen interest in the appointments of the new head of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) Business Headquarters and the Director of the Defense Logistics Bureau at the Ministry of National Defense. Currently, retired Brigadier General Kang, who served as the Director of Force Development at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is being considered for the new head of DAPA Business Headquarters, while retired Brigadier General Lee, retired Colonel Kim, and retired Major Cho are being considered for the Director of the Defense Logistics Bureau.
Additionally, the Blue House plans to appoint the Defense Industry Officer under the Secretary for Defense Reform as a Grade 2 or Grade 3 official, aligning the appointment with the timing of the new secretary’s appointment. However, it is reported that the Blue House is struggling to find candidates who have a good understanding of the defense industry among current senior officials and active generals. Therefore, it is rumored that candidates are being sought from security-related departments within the Blue House, such as the National Security Council (NSC).
