Jeonbuk Province and Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation Sign Business Agreement
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 30th that it has signed a business agreement with the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation to strengthen win-win cooperation with institutions relocated to the Innovation City.
According to this agreement, the province will utilize the excellent personnel and technology of the specialized public corporation to invest 2.1 billion KRW over five years until 2024, starting with Namwon City and Imsil County this year, to secure spatial information infrastructure within the province and build basic spatial information data that has administrative utilization value.
In the future, by utilizing statistical data, the province will implement the "Jeonbuk Basic Administrative District Spatial Information Construction" project to promote convenience for residents and improve administrative trust when carrying out civil administration and resident support projects.
Until now, basic administrative districts have been managed with paper maps and land-centered registers, and the boundaries of legal ri and administrative ri have been used interchangeably. This has caused conflicts between villages during administrative tasks such as moving-in reports or direct payment investigations, and when promoting resident support projects, projects have tended to focus on relatively larger areas, making it difficult to secure spatial data or statistical data that can be used for balanced policy establishment or various policy supports.
To solve these problems, Jeonbuk Province and the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation will use geographic information such as continuous cadastral maps to build spatial information of the smallest administrative units, the tong/ban boundary data, and natural village units, creating a spatial information service environment linked with maps. They will also mutually strive to create new customized spatial information services using various statistical data, strengthen Jeonbuk's spatial information competitiveness, and advance administration centered on spatial information.

Song Ha-jin, Governor of Jeonbuk Province, said, "While the demand for high-quality administrative services is increasing day by day, there has been a lack of detailed spatial information data, making it difficult for the province or cities and counties to provide customized policy support services. The construction of spatial data for the administrative ri tong/ban boundaries, which are basic administrative districts, is meaningful in itself, but since this project is being promoted as a leading effort by the metropolitan government to collaborate with cities and counties and to coexist with institutions relocated to the Innovation City, we will successfully carry it out and produce results that all residents can feel."
