Gangnam Ingong Signs Agreement with 15 Publishers to Offer Over 900 Middle and High School Courses
90,000 Won per Year for 900+ Lectures... "Providing Top-Level Lectures to Students in Educationally Disadvantaged Areas"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) operates Gangnam Internet CSAT Broadcasting (hereinafter Gangnam Ingang), which has signed agreements with 15 publishers this year to provide about 900 lectures covering the 6-year curriculum for middle and high school students.
About 900 lectures are offered using bestsellers from publishers such as JinHakSa (Black Label), CheonJae (Check Check), ShinSaGo (Basic SSEN), Ssedu (Cheonilmun), Donga (High Top), SuKyung (Jai Story), as well as materials directly created by Gangnam Ingang instructors, including textbooks.
Students can take unlimited courses taught by current teachers and star instructors for an annual fee of 50,000 KRW.
Launched in 2004, Gangnam Ingang is the only local government-operated online education site targeting middle and high school students, uniquely offering a 6-year curriculum from middle school internal exams to past CSAT questions. Approximately 80,000 students nationwide are enrolled.
For more information, inquiries can be made through the Gangnam Ingang website (edu.ingang.go.kr) and customer center (☎1577-9100).
This year, Gangnam Ingang is focusing on boosting student morale by holding more than 20 sessions explaining the entrance exam system and study strategies, and awarding scholarships to high-achieving students. Last year, a total of 17 million KRW in scholarships was awarded to 69 students.
Lee Mi-hwa, Director of the Education Support Division, stated, “Providing equal learning opportunities with top-level lectures even to students in educationally underserved areas is the meaning behind Gangnam-gu’s 7th term initiative ‘Together, Caring, and Respectful Elegant Gangnam (Me Me We Gangnam).”
