Nakdonggang River Basin Environmental Office, 149 Cases of Environmental Pollution Violations Detected Last Year

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] The Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office announced on the 21st that it conducted special inspections on 717 businesses emitting environmental pollutants last year and detected 149 violations at 137 sites.
By violation type, 55% of the total violations were breaches of the Air Environment Conservation Act, followed by 23% violations of the Water Environment Conservation Act, and 10% violations of the Waste Management Act.
The main violations included damage and neglect of air pollution prevention facilities and failure to report changes in air emission facilities.
The Nakdong River Office explained, "There were more cases of violations due to poor environmental management than malicious illegal activities."

The Nakdong River Office requested administrative actions against the violating businesses from the relevant local governments, and for 24 businesses with significant violations such as non-operation of air pollution prevention facilities, it requested administrative sanctions including suspension of operations and referred the cases to the prosecution.
