View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] On the 20th, as the prosecution demanded the death penalty for Ko Yu-jeong (37), who was tried on charges of murdering her ex-husband and stepson, her current husband A (38) expressed his feelings.
That afternoon, Mr. A posted a message titled "This is the review of the 11th trial. There was a smoking gun in OO's case" on an online cafe, sharing his reflections on the stepson’s trial and related matters.
Mr. A stated that there was a smoking gun in the case, but the prosecution and police had different judgments about it, and in the end, the police framed him as the culprit, which made him furious.
Regarding Ko Yu-jeong, he called her a cruel serial killer for whom even the death penalty is insufficient, urging that the Supreme Court’s confirmed death sentence should not be overturned.
The current husband said, "Today’s 11th trial ended in just over an hour," and added, "Many articles have been published and trial details have poured out, but as OO’s father, I have something I must say, so I am leaving this message as well."
He continued, "First, Prosecutor Lee OO, who is in charge of the trial now, gave the prosecution’s final statement through a PPT presentation. During the statement, he seemed overwhelmed with emotion... and when thinking about how painfully OO passed away to the afterlife, he said it was heartbreaking... He even paused his statement briefly and was seen choking up."
He added, "I am truly grateful, but at the same time, I could not hold back tears when I saw OO’s face in the courtroom. Why did an innocent angel like OO have to appear in the PPT materials... I really miss him... It was a truly painful time."
Mr. A then claimed that there was a 'smoking gun' in the case. He also pointed out problems in how the prosecution and police handled this smoking gun.
He said, "As OO’s father, there is a crucial point to clarify. The smoking gun in OO’s case was the mechanical compressive asphyxia... in other words, the autopsy report indicating homicide," emphasizing this point.
He continued, "As everyone knows, there was no external intrusion at the time of OO’s death, and only two people were in the house: me and the murderer. OO was a victim of homicide. Therefore, the autopsy report indicating homicide is the smoking gun in OO’s case," he reiterated.

He then asked, "This autopsy report was issued on April 24, 2019. Why, with the same autopsy report, did the police consider me guilty of negligent homicide, while the prosecution regarded it as the smoking gun?"
Current husband A continued, "The day I went to hear the autopsy results was May 2, 2019... Although the Cheongju Sangdang Police Station had the smoking gun in OO’s case, they brought up the possibility that my leg could have been raised and framed me for negligent homicide, linking the baby’s father to the child’s death," he claimed.
He added, "It’s not that they didn’t suspect Ko Yu-jeong, but while I was waiting for the autopsy results and trying to determine the direction, they framed me as a negligent homicide offender. In the end, despite having this smoking gun, the police framed the biological father who lost his child as a negligent homicide offender and prevented suspicion of Ko Yu-jeong. As a result, the Cheongju Sangdang Police Station ended up assisting Ko Yu-jeong’s serial murders," he criticized.
He said, "I do not have the ability to judge what is right or wrong about the prosecution and police investigation rights, nor do I know much about it. But I lost my most beloved son and am experiencing living hell," and added, "Having heard that the police will have the authority to conclude the first investigation in the future, I was very scared," he lamented.
Mr. A also said, "In my heart, even the death penalty is not enough," and emphasized, "I hope not only the prosecution but also the sentencing, appeals, and even the Supreme Court’s ruling will not change. Because a cruel serial killer has no reason to exist in this world."
He concluded, "Though the death penalty for the murderer cannot relieve my son OO’s grievance, the only way, even if just a tiny fraction, to ease my son OO’s resentment is the death penalty for the murderer who sent OO to the afterlife," ending his message.

The verdict is scheduled for the 10th of next month. Ko Yu-jeong will make her final statement on this day.
The prosecution demanded the death penalty on the 20th, stating that there was clear evidence that Ko Yu-jeong meticulously planned the crime and showed no sign of remorse.
The prosecution said, "The defendant emphasizes that she is a mother and wife, but she committed an inhumane crime by brutally killing the son beside the father and the father beside the son," and explained the reason for the death penalty demand as "a planned murder stemming from an extreme disregard for human life."
They added, "Zolpidem, a sleeping pill component, was detected in the bloodstains of the ex-husband victim, and the autopsy results showed that the stepson was deliberately murdered by someone, which is the smoking gun (decisive evidence) in the case," and urged the court to make a decision considering the victims who died unjustly and the bereaved families in despair.
Meanwhile, Ko Yu-jeong’s defense attorney requested a postponement of the sentencing hearing, citing the need for additional review of the evidence investigation inquiry requested from the National Forensic Service, but the court rejected the request, stating that sufficient deliberation had been conducted.
