Iran Foreign Minister "No Attendance at Davos Forum... Schedule Unilaterally Canceled"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunwoo Lee] Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iran's Foreign Minister, announced on the 21st that he will not attend the 50th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), also known as the Davos Forum, held in Switzerland. Minister Zarif claimed that the Davos Forum unilaterally canceled the meeting schedule.
On the 20th (local time), Seyed Abbas Mousavi, spokesperson for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said, "The Davos Forum organizers invited Minister Zarif in writing and by hand to attend," adding, "However, just before the opening, the meetings and schedules that Minister Zarif was supposed to attend were unilaterally canceled." He continued, "The organizers arranged other programs without consulting the Iranian Foreign Ministry," and stated, "Therefore, Minister Zarif will not go to Davos, Switzerland." Mousavi did not specify the schedules that were claimed to have been canceled.
