[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] A fire broke out at a cold storage warehouse for agricultural products in Haenam, Jeollanam-do, burning all 800 tons of stored agricultural products ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, and damage to farms is expected.
According to the Haenam Fire Station in Jeollanam-do on the 19th, a fire occurred at a cold storage warehouse for agricultural products in Hwasan-myeon, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do at around 5:07 a.m. that day.
Upon receiving the fire report, the fire authorities issued a 'Response Level 1' alarm, which mobilizes all personnel from the jurisdictional fire station, and extinguished the fire after about two hours.
Fortunately, there were no casualties from the fire, but the flames lasted for a long time as the agricultural products stored inside the warehouse burned.
According to the fire authorities' investigation, the fire completely burned one warehouse building, part of the nearby management office, the cold refrigerators inside the warehouse, and stored agricultural products including 600 tons of sweet potatoes, 120 tons of onions, and 120 tons of cabbages. The exact scale of the damage is being assessed.
The police and fire authorities are investigating the specific cause of the fire.
