At a press conference held that day at Incheon International Airport, former lawmaker Ahn said, "Practicality means rejecting an obsession with idealistic ideas and focusing on actually solving problems and changing the world."
Ahn emphasized, "The era when the government decided everything for the nation and the people just followed is over. Now, the government should not pull the cart from the front but play a role in pushing it from behind."
He added, "I will take the lead in correcting the current government's wrong policies and stopping the reckless operation of state affairs," and stated, "We must prevent the emergence of fake democracy and the privatization of power."
He continued, "I will devote all my will and capabilities to creating a fair and safe society," adding, "I will find and eliminate unfair rules and lay the foundation again for the younger generation."
Former lawmaker Ahn said, "I founded the Bareunmirae Party with the belief that harmony between Yeongnam and Honam regions and national unity are necessary for the future of the Republic of Korea, but during the merger process, I did not fully understand the feelings of those who supported the People's Party. They must have been very disappointed. Although it is late, I apologize," and added, "It is also my responsibility that the Bareunmirae Party is in a difficult situation."
