Gyeonggi-do Fully Supports Medical and Medication Expenses for Independence Patriots
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will fully cover outpatient medical expenses and medication costs for independence patriots, their spouses, and survivors (authorized persons) who use hospitals and pharmacies designated by the province starting this year. However, surgery and hospitalization fees are excluded.
On the 15th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will fully support the costs incurred when independence patriots residing in the province, their spouses, survivors (authorized persons), and their spouses receive outpatient treatment or have prescriptions filled starting this year.
The province had previously supported medical expenses up to an annual limit of 2 million won. This decision follows the policy intention of Governor Lee Jae-myung of Gyeonggi Province that "special sacrifices deserve special rewards."
According to this decision, independence patriots and others will be able to receive free treatment and have prescriptions filled at 82 designated hospitals (including hospitals entrusted by the Veterans Affairs Office) and 120 pharmacies within the province.
