Park Joo-sun Elected as Chairman of the National Assembly Intelligence Committee
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] Park Juseon, a four-term lawmaker from the Bareunmirae Party, was elected as the Chairperson of the National Assembly Intelligence Committee.
The National Assembly held a plenary session on the 13th to conduct a by-election for the Intelligence Committee Chairperson, with 137 votes in favor out of a total of 170 votes. The Liberty Korea Party abstained from the vote.

Park, a former prosecutor, has been elected four times and served as the Deputy Speaker of the 20th National Assembly during its first half. The three major parties?the Democratic Party of Korea, the Liberty Korea Party, and the Bareunmirae Party?had previously agreed that the successor to former Intelligence Committee Chairperson Lee Hye-hoon, who resigned after switching party affiliation from the Bareunmirae Party to the New Conservative Party, would be a member of the Bareunmirae Party.
