To welcome the Year of the Metal Rat 2020, the district invited residents from various sectors who contributed to the development of the district administration, offering New Year greetings and preparing a venue to reaffirm a new commitment toward a bright future of Yeongdeungpo together with its residents.
About 1,000 residents, including members of the National Assembly, party committee chairpersons, city and district council members, local institution heads, and professional organizations, were invited to this New Year Greeting Meeting, which was hosted by MC and comedian Seo Kyung-seok, currently active on YouTube’s ‘Seo Kyung-seok TV’.
Before the event, attendees were welcomed with a string quartet performance, and the opening featured a traditional and modern Korean music LED performance on one stage. Along with impactful LED light effects, the 2020 district administration message and wishes were conveyed.
Next, a specially produced ‘Residents’ Wishes’ New Year video was presented. It shared stories of residents’ hopes and dreams for the year 2020 from various parts of Yeongdeungpo, expressing the district’s intention to listen carefully to residents’ voices and respect their wishes throughout the year.
Following this, new honorary district mayors for the second term of the 7th elected administration were appointed from among the residents in five fields: education, culture, economy, welfare, and safety. This aims to borrow wisdom and experience from local elders to continue administration that serves residents from their perspective this year as well.
After New Year speeches by Yeongdeungpo District Mayor Chae Hyun-il and key guests, performances by the district’s boys and girls choir and the district women’s choir singing the ‘Residents’ Day Song’ were held.
Finally, the event concluded with a performance sharing abundant blessings for the Year of the Metal Rat with the attending residents.
