[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province is expanding the installation of protruding route number plates on city buses to enhance the convenience of public transportation users.
According to the city on the 12th, the protruding number plate attached to the front door of the bus unfolds when the bus arrives at the stop and opens the front door, making it easy to identify the route number. This feature is especially effective when multiple buses stop at the station simultaneously.
In 2018, the city began a pilot operation by attaching protruding number plates to 84 buses on three routes: 12-1 (Dowon Transportation), 23 (Soshin Passenger), and 83 (Bucheon Bus).
Due to positive public response, last year the city expanded the installation to 169 buses on six routes: 10, 88 (Bucheon Bus), 50 (Dowon Transportation), 52 (Buil Transportation), 60-1 (Cheongwoo Transport), and 75 (Soshin Passenger).
This year, the city plans to select routes considering the number of routes stopping at each station and the number of boardings, and install the plates on an additional 200 buses.
