Gimhae Election Commission Files Charges Against 50-Year-Old for Distributing Books Related to Preliminary Candidates

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju-cheol In] The Gimhae City Election Commission in Gyeongnam announced on the 13th that it has reported a man in his 50s, Mr. A, to the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office on charges of purchasing and distributing books of preliminary candidates in relation to the 21st National Assembly election (violation of the Public Official Election Act).
Mr. A is suspected of purchasing preliminary candidate books worth about 450,000 won and distributing them to about 30 members at a year-end party of a local group in early December last year.
The Public Official Election Act prohibits the distribution of photos, documents, printed materials, etc. bearing the candidate's name to influence the election from 180 days before the election day, including acts of donation for candidates.

A Gyeongnam Provincial Election Commission official said, "We plan to respond strictly to serious election crimes ahead of the 21st general election," and added, "Please be careful not to suffer any unintended disadvantages."
