Gang Arrested for Stealing Cash and More at Traditional Market Restaurant
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] A group that stole cash and other items while roaming traditional markets was caught by the police.
The Changwon Jungbu Police Station in Gyeongnam announced on the 10th that they have arrested and plan to send to the prosecution two individuals, A (20) and B (19), on charges of breaking into a restaurant and stealing cash and other items (special theft).
The group, including A, is accused of entering a restaurant in a traditional market in Seo-gu, Busan, around 8 p.m. on the 1st and stealing 220,000 won in cash before fleeing.
It was confirmed that they targeted restaurants where the doors were not locked or the locking devices were loose, making it easy to open the doors.
They committed the crimes without any special tools. To avoid being tracked by the police, they wore masks, hats, and other items.
Using this method, they are suspected of stealing a total of about 9.4 million won worth of cash, gift certificates, and mobile phones over 33 incidents while roaming traditional markets in Changwon and Busan from December 10 last year to the 1st of this month.
The police, tracking them through closed-circuit television (CCTV) and other means, arrested them on the 2nd on a street in Busan.
