Amorepacific, 17th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony for Founder Chairman Seo Seong-hwan
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Amorepacific announced on the 9th that it held a memorial ceremony for the 17th anniversary of the passing of its founder, Chairman Seosunghwan, at the Jangwon Memorial Hall and business sites nationwide.
Chairman Jangwon Seosunghwan, who passed away on January 9, 2003, was the founder of Amorepacific and is recognized as a pioneer in the history of Korean cosmetics and a business leader who fulfilled social responsibility through sharing and practice. He is also well known as a tea (cha) master who inherited and developed tea culture.
On this day, at Amorepacific headquarters and business sites across the country, an internal memorial broadcast honored the founder’s will and achievements, reaffirming the company’s commitment as a "responsible corporate citizen" that grows harmoniously with the times, environment, and society to create a beautiful and healthy world that makes customers’ lives happier.
Amorepacific’s current executives also visited the late chairman’s memorial space, the Jangwon Memorial Hall located in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, on the 2nd, immediately after the New Year’s ceremony, to hold a memorial service.
During the memorial ceremony, the 2019 Sharing National Award - Presidential Award plaque, symbolizing the founder’s philosophy of serving humanity, and the 2019 Korea Technology Award, embodying the corporate values of pursuing firsts and excellence, were enshrined. This week, senior executives and newly appointed team leaders of Amorepacific are scheduled to visit the Jangwon Memorial Hall.
Additionally, at Amorepacific headquarters on the 9th, during lunchtime, the memorial food Jangtteok, which accompanied Chairman Seosunghwan during difficult times after liberation, was served.
Amorepacific added, "Reflecting on the late chairman’s relentless challenges, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit that overcame numerous hardships to build the business, we will continue our beautiful voyage toward a grand enterprise this year as well."
