Youth Player 'Prohibited Drug Injection and Sale' Lee Yeosang, 6-Year Suspension
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Sung-yeol] Former professional baseball player Lee Yeosang (36), who injected and sold banned substances to youth baseball players he coached, has been suspended from qualification for 6 years.
The Korea Anti-Doping Agency (KADA) announced on the 8th that Lee Yeosang has been suspended from participating as a player or coach for a total of 6 years, from December 19, 2019, to December 18, 2025, due to 'illegal trade of banned substances.'
From April 2018 to May 2019, Lee Yeosang injected or sold approximately 28 million KRW worth of illegally distributed 'anabolic steroids' and 'male hormones' to a total of 9 people at the youth baseball class he operated in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
On December 19 of last year, Judge Lee Nae-ju of the Criminal Appeals Division 1 at the Seoul Western District Court sentenced Lee Yeosang, who was indicted for violating the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act, to 10 months in prison, the same as the original sentence. KADA set the date of the court ruling as the start date of the suspension penalty.

Lee Yeosang began his professional baseball career in 2007 by joining the Samsung Lions. After transferring to Hanwha in 2008, he moved to Lotte in 2014 and retired in April 2017.
