Programs such as the metropolitan and provincial superintendents’ talk concert, regional networks, and joint problem-solving and pathfinding will share the concerns of teachers and students in school settings and foster consensus on peace and unification education.
Additionally, the future of unification for Northeast Asian peace will be envisioned through thoughts on division revealed by big data and the lives of border people in stories from the Manchuria region (Dandong) and Japan’s Zainichi community. Side events include various exhibitions of peace and unification education teaching materials (board games), videos, apps, and North Korean daily necessities.
The Ministry of Education plans to continuously promote support for teaching and learning content, teacher capacity building, and the establishment of cooperative systems with metropolitan and provincial offices of education to expand school peace and unification education throughout this year as well.
Furthermore, through the 'Peace and Unification Education Policy Council,' which includes education offices, the Korea Educational Development Institute, the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation, and the Institute for Unification Studies, joint policy projects will be discovered and collaboration strengthened, along with efforts to enhance the capabilities of education office officials and activate networks.
