Abe Invites Ambassadors from 19 Countries to Request Cooperation for the Olympics
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe invited ambassadors to Japan from various countries who are proficient in Japanese to a luncheon at the Prime Minister's Official Residence on the 8th, requesting their cooperation for the success of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, NHK reported.
According to the report, Prime Minister Abe held the luncheon by inviting 19 ambassadors to Japan who are proficient in Japanese from countries including China and Russia. At the event, Abe expressed his gratitude for the ambassadors' cooperation during the Emperor's enthronement ceremony held last year.
He also said, "This year, the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics will be held," adding, "Each region in Japan will welcome the delegations as 'Host Towns' and is expected to cheer for each country. I want to foster the Olympic spirit together with you."

Kyodo News reported that the ambassadors attending the event exchanged opinions on topics such as "how to promote Japan's positive aspects overseas." Ambassador Nam Gwanpyo was also invited but reportedly did not attend due to other commitments.
