Securing 16.6 Billion KRW in National and Provincial Funds, 'Record High'

Haman-gun announced on the 7th that it has secured a national and provincial budget of 16.6 billion KRW, the largest ever, for the ‘2020 Investigation Research and Maintenance Project on Aragaya Relics.’
Haman County secured a budget of 16.6 billion won in 2020 for investigation, research, and maintenance projects related to the Aragaya ruins. The photo shows the area around the villages of Geungaya and Jageungaya.
View original imageThe county explained that this budget is an unprecedented achievement, increasing by more than 300% compared to 5.2 billion KRW last year.
According to the county, among the related budgets secured this year, the national designated cultural heritage repair and maintenance project supported by the Cultural Heritage Administration accounts for the largest portion at 16.4 billion KRW.
In addition, the budget includes support projects for the registration of the Gaya Tumuli Cluster on the tentative list of World Heritage, repair projects for Gyeongsangnam-do designated cultural heritage, and support projects for the promotion of Gaya relics to national designated cultural heritage.
As a detailed project, 13.1 billion KRW will be invested in the purchase of private land and the establishment of a comprehensive maintenance basic plan for the Gayari Relics (Historic Site No. 554), which were designated as a national historic site in October last year, and 6 billion KRW will be invested in the maintenance project for the Malyisan Tumuli Cluster (Historic Site No. 515), which is being promoted for World Heritage registration.
Along with this, 1 billion KRW will be invested in the installation of CCTV and landscape lighting and the maintenance of fortress walls for the preservation management and landscape construction of Seongsan Fortress (Historic Site No. 67), and 370 million KRW will be invested in the restoration and maintenance project for the No. 6 and 7 tombs of the Nammun Outer Tumuli Cluster (Gyeongsangnam-do Monument No. 226), which were excavated last year.

Furthermore, 200 million KRW is scheduled to be invested in excavation surveys to verify the historical value of Angok Fortress, an Aragaya mountain fortress currently an undesignated Gaya relic.
