Busan City Expands Eligibility for 'Maternal and Newborn Health Care Service' Support
Support for Families with Second Child or More, Regardless of Income
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Yoseop] Busan City announced on the 6th that it will expand the support targets for the ‘Postpartum Mother and Newborn Health Management Service’ starting this year to aid maternal recovery and newborn care after childbirth.
From now on, families giving birth to their first child will be eligible for the service if their income is at or below 120% of the median income, and families with a second child or more will receive the service regardless of income. Through this, Busan City expects about 3,000 households to benefit, alleviating economic burdens and contributing to job creation.
The health management service is a program where a health manager, who has completed the ‘Postpartum Mother and Newborn Visiting Service Provider Training Course’ announced by the Minister of Health and Welfare, visits homes directly to provide up to 25 days of support including maternal nutrition and edema management, exercise assistance, and newborn care services.
Since the introduction of the health management service in 2006, support has been provided only to families with income at or below 100% of the median income. To receive the service, applications can be submitted from 40 days before the expected delivery date until 30 days after childbirth through the local district or county health center or the Bokjiro website.
