The fund was raised over about two months during the Christmas promotion period from October 26 to December 31 last year. Starbucks aimed to raise up to 200 million KRW by accumulating 20 KRW for each Starbucks planner provided and sold, 20 KRW for each Christmas beverage sold, and 200 KRW for each Christmas coffee bean sold.
Starbucks delivered the funds to 20 organizations nationwide supporting local communities, including Starbucks talent donation cafes, Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, Environmental Foundation, JA Korea, and Seoul Green Trust, pledging to continue fostering a year of coexistence and cooperation with local communities this year as well.
Since 2014, Starbucks has continuously held fund-raising events during the Christmas season every year to allow customers visiting stores to participate in year-end sharing activities.
Reflecting the significance of store openings in the amount donated and the number of organizations receiving funds, in 2017, the 18th anniversary year, Starbucks raised and donated 180 million KRW to 18 organizations, and in 2018, the 19th anniversary year, 190 million KRW to 19 organizations, increasing both the donation amount and supported organizations each year to encourage customer participation in fundraising activities.
Earlier, through the Santa Barista campaign conducted at the end of last year, Starbucks donated over 580 million KRW to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation to support children from underprivileged groups nationwide.
