Samsung Securities Presents 'MICE & CHAANGE' as 2020 Overseas Stock Keywords
Investment Theme Keywords ‘M·I·C·E’ (Macro, Interest, China, Election)
Recommended Stock Keywords ‘C·H·A·A·N·G·E’ (Citic, Hengrui, Amazon, AMD, Nike, Google, Tesla)
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Hwajeong] Samsung Securities announced on the 5th that it presents 'M·I·C·E' as the four major themes of global stock investment in 2020, and 'C·H·A·A·N·G·E' as the keyword for recommended stocks.
First, 'M·I·C·E' (the plural of mouse in English) is a keyword formed from the first letters of Macro, Interest, China, and Election, respectively. Samsung Securities expects each keyword to be an important variable that will permeate the global stock market in 2020.
Samsung Securities explained that for each keyword, Macro refers to 'signs of easing concerns about economic recession,' Interest means 'the trend of long-term interest rates changing from a continuous decline to a stable box range,' China indicates 'the full-scale opening of China's capital market and the start of China's 5G services,' and Election signifies 'the changing global political environment such as the US presidential election.'
Regarding these four major themes, Samsung Securities also presented the recommended stock portfolio 'C·H·A·A·N·G·E' for high-yield seeking investors in 2020.
'C·H·A·A·N·G·E' is a keyword created by taking one alphabet letter from each of the representative promising stocks among the 10 '2020 Rival Picks' recommended stocks: Citic, Hengrui, Amazon, AMD, Nike, Google, and tEsla.
The characteristic of these stocks is that they are all companies from the US and China, known as the G2.
The global stock market in 2020 is expected to be more differentiated by market rather than overall market growth, and alpha returns are analyzed to be found in high value-added industries led by the US and in China, the world's largest market.
These recommended stocks recorded an average annual stock price increase of 59.9% in 2019, which is a favorable performance compared to the KOSPI index, which rose 7.7% during the same period, and the Dow Jones, which rose about 22%.
Yoon Seokmo, head of Samsung Securities Research Center, said, "In 2019, the foreign currency stock settlement amount of domestic investors recorded $40.388 billion (46.7 trillion KRW, as of December 30), which is about a 25% increase compared to the previous year," and added, "We will further enhance our overseas company analysis capabilities to provide more diverse and prompt information related to overseas stocks, which have become a key solution to overcoming the ultra-low interest rate environment."
