Golden Blue Gains Popularity Overseas... Vietnam Sales Jump 48%
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Golden Blue announced on the 2nd that its whiskey "Golden Blue" continues its rapid growth by dominating the domestic market and gaining popularity in overseas markets as well.
According to Golden Blue, consumers seeking Korean-style whiskey Golden Blue are increasing in Southeast Asia, driven by the Korean Wave and K-food trends. In particular, Vietnam has shown remarkable performance improvements every year. Golden Blue has maintained double-digit growth rates for four consecutive years in Vietnam, with sales soaring by 48% last year. Additionally, in the second half of last year, it achieved the top sales position among Korean-style whiskeys exported to Vietnam. Thanks to favorable conditions in Vietnam, Golden Blue's export sales volume grew by 23% compared to the previous year.
Golden Blue explained that the success of its entry into Vietnam holds very special significance. Vietnam is a country with high economic growth rates and a large proportion of young people, making it a market with great growth potential that many companies are focusing on to pioneer new markets. A Golden Blue representative said, "Recording high growth rates in Vietnam, which is transforming from a production market to a consumption market, indicates that Golden Blue has established an essential foundation to secure a position in the global market," adding, "It also shows a high potential to successfully enter other countries in the future and leap forward as a global brand."
Golden Blue took its first step into overseas markets by exporting Golden Blue to China in 2010. It then began exporting to Vietnam in 2011 and expanded its export countries to Singapore and Cambodia in 2014.
In June 2018, it entered the duty-free market for the first time, and in August of the same year, it pioneered new export countries including Indonesia and Thailand. In August last year, it made its first overseas export of "Golden Blue 20-Year Summit" to Malaysia.
