Hwang Chang-gyu "KT Must Lead the AI World Based on 5G"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] On March 6, Hwang Chang-gyu, chairman of KT, who will step down after more than six years, stated at the New Year's resolution ceremony on the 2nd, "As a 5G-based AI specialized company, we must create innovative and differentiated value and lead a world where AI is accessible everywhere."
On the morning of the 2nd, KT held the '2020 KT Group New Year's Resolution Ceremony' at KT Square in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, attended by about 200 executives and employees including Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu. At the ceremony, Chairman Hwang said, "Let's create together a KT Group that is Korea's representative innovative company, a national company loved by customers, and a global No.1 KT Group with a promising future." The event was attended by Ku Hyeon-mo, the next president-designate of KT (current head of the Customer & Media Division), Lee Dong-myeon, head of the Future Platform Business Division, Lee Moon-hwan, president of BC Card, and Lee Dae-san, president of KT Estate.
Under the theme "KT, Our Challenge Continues," the New Year's resolution ceremony celebrated last year's achievements, including the world's first commercialization of 5G, surpassing 8 million IPTV subscribers, and exceeding 2 million Giga Genie users, welcoming the Year of the Rat. It also served as a time to unite internal will to leap forward once again as the global No.1 KT in 2020.

Before the resolution ceremony, Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu and union leader Kim Hae-gwan personally greeted employees arriving at the KT Gwanghwamun Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and handed out gift boxes containing coffee and handmade cookies. The ceremony was broadcast live to 60,000 KT and group company employees via KT Group's internal broadcasting channel, KBN. The event began with a video titled "Our Achievements Over the Past Six Years," followed by New Year's speeches from Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu and union leader Kim Hae-gwan, New Year's pledges from KT and KT group employees, and concluded with a chorus of the "KT Song."
